I thought a lot about this topic as I am sure that many of the readers will feel the same, I always have good intentions of keeping my blog up to date and trying to write as many as I possibly can but life and all the additional tasks that take up most of one’s day tend to interfere. Where does one find the time to write as many blogs as one can so this brings me to the topic of repurposing content today.

A lot of content marketing and social media market courses advise communicators to write content that can be repurposed or recycled, which in order words means, that the content can be used over, you might rewrite a bit of the content or you might add a bit more as we all know that in the realm of digital marketing things change overnight so now how do you repurpose content?

Firstly check that the information is still valid and useful. Secondly you can break it up into segments and reissue it on your Facebook page, via Twitter and Tumblr. For your blog on your website, you can relook at the topic and write something different about it. What is good to have is a notebook to write in or even on your phone or tablet, ideas tend to come to you when your brain is not totally focused on the blog and when you think of ideas write them down so you remember them when you need to. Thirdly, why not look for interesting quotes to add to it, just search on Pinterest, there is a wealth of wonderful quotes on all sorts of topics and they add a bit of flavour to your writing, I just love Pinterest and use that particular media a lot for research.

Other media that one could use is recording a topic via YouTube, Vimeo or Audacity (podcasts), a number of my clients tell me that they don’t have time to read but listen to podcasts or audiobooks while they drive and that is their preferred medium of communication.

Cover all the channels when you repurpose your content and then always do an audit afterwards to check which medium received the most hits and then you will find which is the best to use and happy blogging, vlogging or whatever you decide to do.
